The villa was just what we were looking for. Lovely area, clean, good space and helpful reception staff. The only problem we had was that the pool heater was broken when we arrived but the reception staff soon had it sorted out once we had mimed what was wrong (I don't speak French but am not bad at charades!!). I would certainly recommend your services. Thanks Ian

Longeville 26/07 to 9/08/2008 We very much enjoyed our holiday. Thank you. Comfortable beds and lovely clean bathrooms. Kids had a great time using the semi-private pool which was perfect. The place itself was safe and peaceful. Wonderful holiday and we will recommend. Best regards Grace
The Vendee lies between the Côte d'Argent and Brittany but with a character all of its own. The Atlantic Coast stretches 140 km, full of fine white sandy beaches with an amazing 210 days sunshine per year, a record rivalling that of the south of France. The Vendee coast is renowned for its luminosity and is called locally "LA COTE DE LA LUMIERE"... The Vendee is rich with many museums, castles and heritage centres to visit.
It is a land of naturally preserved space with a variety of pleasures such as sandsurfing, horse riding, golfing, watersports and Spa Thalassotherapy centres offering revitalising salt water cures. The Vendee is reclaimed land and therefore flat and riddled with creeks, vast beaches and sand dunes inviting you to relax. In the dusk, fine pleasure ports transform into lively, welcoming stopovers with a variety of museums, gardens, festivals, folklore pageants and magnificent evening shows.
The region is covered with working salt marshes, oyster beds, potato fields, vineyards and provides a wealth of seafood. The Vendee offers colourful beauty and a variety of countryside from farmlands to the local marshes and Marais Poitevin Marshes, from forests, the sea and villages with their colourful markets selling the local speciality "Brioche Vendeene" (a type of bread with a sweet taste). One can relive the past by visiting cloisters, abbeys, inhabited Châteaux and the picturesque surroundings encompassed by magnificent windmills. You couldn't have a better setting for seaside fun, plenty of space on the gently sloping beaches where you can cool off, or picnic in the fragrant pine woods which sweep down to the sand dunes.
Local Activities IN AND AROUND LONGEVILLE SUR MER : Longeville is at the extremity of the Marais Poitevin and you can go on a 2 hours small boat or canoe marked trips. You can discover some megaliths while cycling on marked tracks, near Longeville, or le Moulin “ Bots Pias” while mountain biking. There is a track that is 10 kilometres long on a mountain bike that will take you all around the marshes. Every year, a semi-marathon is organised in July. There are many walks in the coastal forest and also a fun orientaring course. The Piere-qui-vire (twisting stone) or Russelet standing stone is a huge block of local sandstone in a field near Longeville-sur-Mer, between the D21 and the D105 roads. It is 3.8m (12.5ft) high and is the only one still upright in the Talmondais area of Vendee. According to F.Baudry, in 1862 there was an incomplete circle of lying stones around the monument. Now around the menhir there are only some stones cleared from the surrounding fields and put there by the farmers. A legend says that this stone, meeting point for witches and werewolves (both male and female), revolves on itself every midnight. Another story says that walkers passing nearby at night would get lost until sunrise. There are a lot of activities that are on offer, such as horse riding, mini golf, petanque, tennis, sailing and sand yachting, surfing, mountain biking. This is a region rich in remains from the Past: Don't miss La Rochelle and its mediaeval harbour or Saintes, ancient Roman town. Charente-Maritime also takes pride in its islands which inspired many writers and painters: l'Ile d'Oleron (linked by a bridge 3km long), famous for its oysters and its windmills, l'Ile de Re, unforgettable when it comes to landscapes. Everything in the area was made for you to have a pleasant stay. You will find many warm and welcoming resorts along the steep chalky rocks, capes and heavenly bays, with plenty of activities to offer. Gourmet meals, fine wines & spirits amateurs will find all they can wish for...Don't forget the town of Cognac is situated in the area. 5km sport complex, offers tournaments and beach competitions(volley ball, hand ball, football, badmington. While you are in Longeville, you can pay a visit to The Lieu-Dieu Abbey, La Tranche sur Mer and its flower park, the famous isles of Re, Aix, and Noirmoutier, Talmont and its medieval castle, les Sables d'Olonne and its fishing port and marina and Luçon with its cathedral.
