The village of St Cyprien is steeped in history and atmosphere - the village dates from the eighteen century and is typical of an old Catalan village. The village has special events throughout the year for your entertainment in the main square which is only a few minutes walk from the Villa. It also has an abundance of shops - butchers, bakers, newspaper shops, hairdressers, a beauty parlour, a mini-supermarket, 3 restaurants, 2 Pizza takeaways and various bars. There is a market which is held on a Thursday in the square around the Maries {Mayors} office. There are two wine shops and in one of these you can buy wine directly from the producer. The village has an indoor swimming pool which is heated and open all year. It is merely 32 Kms from the Spanish border by road where Buffet restaurants at E15.00 with ad lib wine and even champagne, may be enjoyed amongst other things. That is certainly an experience not to be missed. Close by are all sorts of areas of interest - the Pyrenees, and Corbiere mountains are breathtaking and not far down the coast is Collioure, famous for the great painters of the past [Picasso, Matisse etc] and still with many today. This is the area of Catalonia and famous once for being the land of the Cathars. Steeped in history the area offers something for everyone as well as the right beaches to reflect on everything as well.
St Cyprien has an International Golf Course with the odd lagoon incorporated within, Horse-riding, Go-Carting, Fishing, Water sports of every description, Diving, Boat trips, Boat hire Charter, Bird watching on the Canet lagoon colonised by pink flamingos, Wine-tasting at the nearby Chateau's, Sigean African Wildlife reserve on 645 acres, or why not take the yellow train from Villefranche-de-conflent to 5,000ft above sea level for some of the most spectacular views in Europe. Mountain Walking, Water-rafting, Hang gliding, or take in the spas of Amelie-les-bains, visit the wonderful resort of Collioure where many artists such as Matisse and Derain have been inspired by the picturesque landscape. Try all the wonderful restaurants and bars that St Cyprian Marina has to offer – or in season why not go to the beautiful beach bar restaurants and watch the sunset – let the children play in the sand after dinner while you relax with a glass of wine.
